Overview

As technology increasingly becomes more important to business performance, there is a growing demand for IT graduates with technical and business expertise.

The Master of Information Technology involves an in-depth study of the implementation and application of IT, including how to effectively manage the organisational, economic, regulatory and socio-technical issues that may arise.

You will be introduced to fundamental concepts and core topics such as programming and data structures, data management systems, system analysis and project management, web development, strategic network design, and security, ethics, and professionalism.

You will also have the opportunity to specialise in one of the following areas:

  • Information design and analysis
  • Enterprise systems
  • Information systems development

This degree is suitable for those with and without an IT background seeking to develop the fundamental skills required to work in the sector, or to undertake a management role in which an understanding of IT implementation is essential. On completion, graduates will be able to work in various roles: IT analyst, solution designer/engineer, IT consultant, ICT project manager.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app is offering Commonwealth supported places (CSPs) for all of our postgraduate coursework degrees in 2025. This means the Australian government will subsidise your tuition fees by up to 75%. Enterprise Systems (specialisation)

The enterprise systems major will provide students with the knowledge and skills required to translate enterprise information systems strategy into infrastructure and seamlessly integrate individual disparate information systems into an integrated solution.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

    ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's Woolyungah Indigenous Centre's Indigenous Admissions Program (IAP) offers an alternative pathway for Indigenous Australians aged 17 and over who are seeking entry into an undergraduate course at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app. Upon completing the IAP, applicants will be considered for admission based on an interview and assessment of both academic and non-academic qualities. For further details, including the application process, please contact Woolyungah Indigenous Centre.

  • Domestic applicants with overseas qualifications

    If you have completed or partially completed studies at an approved university or tertiary institution, you may be eligible for entry to ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app. You'll need to provide academic records, and your course must be at least one-sixth complete. Non-English documents must include an official English translation. For more information, contact the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Future Students Team.

  • English language proficiency

    All ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app courses are taught in English and require varying levels of proficiency. If English is not your first language, you must meet the University’s English Language Requirements, which differ by course.

    Accepted international test results include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET for specific health-related courses.

  • Workload

    Full-Time Study Load

    As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study. You may need to factor more time for examination study and practical work & placements.
