ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College pays tribute to staff, students on 30th birthday
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College has helped more than 30,000 students to access higher education and employment
For the past three decades, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College has been helping students to achieve their dreams by building their skills knowledge and providing a pathway to higher education and employment.
More than 31,000 students, from 70 countries, have passed through its doors on their way to careers in every industry and field imaginable, from academia to technology, engineering and the arts.
This week (April 26) ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College will celebrate its 30th birthday by paying tribute to the staff and students who have helped to make it one of the most successful university colleges in Australia.
Julie Renwick, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College General Manager, said reaching its 30th birthday was a reflection of the values and quality of education that ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College has offered since its inception.
“We are excited to be celebrating ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College’s 30th birthday. It is a really proud moment for all the passionate and hard-working teachers and staff,” Ms Renwick said.
“For many of our students, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College has been the first stepping stone on the path to achieving their tertiary educations. It is an honour to have provided this crucial step and to have a part in helping our students reach their potential.”
Since opening its doors in 1988 – when it was then known as ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app English Language Centre- ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College has gone from strength to strength.
It now offers pathways to university and employment, from vocational training, English language courses, and higher education diplomas, with a reach that encompasses ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app’s campuses, from South Western Sydney in the north, to Bega in the south.
“ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College is driven by integrity, creativity, and a desire to make an impact in the world,” Ms Renwick said.
“Our growth is a testament to the passion of our staff and the enriching experiences of our students and alumni. Ensuring our students receive an exceptional educational experience is what drives us every day.
“Many of our students have gone on to forge exciting and successful careers in industries and cities around the world, and it has been such an honour to help them on their way.”
Among ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College’s most notable graduates are Susan Zhang, who completed English for Tertiary Studies and is now a Technical Creative Specialist for Google UK; and Dr James Goudkamp, who studied in the Foundation Studies Program and is now an Associate Professor in Law at Oxford University.
Students have also used ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College as a stepping stone to a future in research.
Adam Drenoyanis did not achieve the ATAR needed to apply to university, so he decided to take an alternate pathway with the University Access Program. After successfully completing the program and his undergraduate engineering degree at the University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app, Adam is now a PhD candidate.
Ms Renwick said these are just a few of the incredible success stories that have come out of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app College.
“We are looking forward to continuing to grow in the years to come and continuing to work with our students to unlock their potential and achieve their personal and professional dreams.”
