Commencing in March, Mr Phillips brings extensive experience to key executive leadership role

After an extensive competitive recruitment search the University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app (ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app) has appointed Stephen Phillips to the position of Vice-President (Operations).

Mr Phillips will start in the role on 4 March 2025.  He brings to ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app a distinguished record of executive leadership, having driven operational excellence and transformative change across diverse and complex sectors, including higher education, financial services, and infrastructure.

Most recently, as Vice-President (Operations) at the University of Sydney, Mr Phillips led a broad portfolio, delivering strategic integration, innovation and tangible outcomes that aligned with institutional priorities.

Interim Vice-Chancellor and President Professor John Dewar said Mr Phillips was an exceptional leader who had demonstrated a steadfast commitment to fostering cultures of excellence, collaboration and inclusion.

Mr Phillips said he was delighted to be joining ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app at a pivotal time in its journey.

Matthew Wright will continue as Interim Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President (Operations) until Mr Phillips commences and then will resume his role as Chief Financial Officer.
