Milestone ceremonies celebrate graduates while marking a new chapter for higher education in South Western Sydney

The University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app (ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app) will celebrate a major milestone on Wednesday (15 July) when its Liverpool Civic Place campus hosts its first graduation ceremonies, recognising the achievements of 88 graduates as they are ready to make a difference in the community.

The ceremonies mark an important milestone for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Liverpool as the first graduation events to be held at its Civic Place campus, which opened in 2026. The purpose-built campus features nursing simulation facilities, cyber security and science laboratories and modern collaborative learning spaces designed to prepare the next generation of professionals for the workforce.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Vice-Chancellor Professor Max Lu AO said graduation recognised years of hard work and the beginning of graduates' next chapter.

"Many of our Liverpool graduates chose to study close to home while balancing work, family and other commitments. Today, we are seeing our proud graduates ready to go out and strengthen hospitals, businesses, schools and community organisations across South Western Sydney and beyond," Professor Lu said.

"Holding our first graduation ceremonies at Civic Place makes this occasion even more significant and reflects ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's commitment to providing world-class education where our communities need it most."

Since opening in 2017 with an initial intake of just over 240 students, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Liverpool has grown to more than 1,600 students. Around 85 per cent are from South Western and Western Sydney, with many the first in their family to attend university.

By providing the opportunity for a university education closer to home, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Liverpool is helping reduce barriers to higher education while building the skilled workforce needed across one of Australia’s fastest growing regions.

Two graduation ceremonies will be held, at 12.30pm and 3.30pm at the campus, located at 50 Scott Street, with graduates from nursing, business, health, law and the social sciences recognised for their achievements.
